Spring/Summer 2024 is upon us and here is a round up of some of the latest trends seen on the runway.

The Spring/Summer 2024 collection certainly heralds a mesmerizing array of trends that promise to ignite our imaginations and redefine our wardrobes. Micro Shorts
Love it or hate it, the micro short is here. Baring pretty much the entire thigh, it is definitely leg day, everyday at the gym for those of us who absolutely need to rock this trend. Typically high waisted, the micro short has two favoured cuts. First is a fitted and sleek look as seen in Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Stella McCartney. The second is belted at the waist and a more loose fit ala Hermes, Prada and Versace. What is interesting to note is that no matter the cut, there is a fun play with lengths in terms of the jacket, belt or cardigan paired with these shorts adding dimension while concealing the “shock” factor of the length of the micro short.

Florals
When one thinks of florals, the immediate notion it brings up is that it is romantic, feminine and sweet. The runways of Stella McCartney, Michael Kors and Roberto Cavalli definitely showcase this with their soft, flowy and floaty designs. But, if you long for bold, bright and structured to match your edgy and playful sense of style, Balmain, Marni and Valentino may tickle your fancy. Heavy use of applique, unique cuts and structure really amp up the impact of the florals. 

Little White Dress
A less bridal version of this trend, the little white dress (LWD) was seen on almost every runway for Spring/Summer 2024. Coming head-to-head with the LBD (little black dress), the white dress is a clear contender for those days or nights when you just simply don’t know what to wear. Whether long, or short, embellished or not, the LWD will seamlessly take you from day to night, work to play. Valentino, Gucci and Versace make it fun and chic with a mini white dress while Hermes, Michael Kors and Prada add length and elegance to theirs.

Sheer Delight
This may sound rather risque but with a sprinkling of style dust, this is very much a trend that can be worked by either modest or devil-may-care personalities. Don a sheer skirt over an opaque under layer or tuck a long oversized top into the skirt for a more sophisticated take on the trend as seen in Louis Vuitton and Missoni. If that isn’t your vibe, slip it on over those trendy full knickers and cinch it up with a belt for a more chic and sexy look as seen in Erdem, Hermes, Michael Kors and Prada.

Chromes
Shiny, metal perfection. Whether it is a statement piece or full garb, this trend isn’t for those who seek to be a fly on the wall. Demanding attention as it dazzles in gazers eyes, this is one trend that has never left the fashion scene. Whether it is lame`, sequins or metallic treatments, go big ala Nina Ricci, Versace, Chloe and Blumarine or tone it down with Michael Kors or Ralph Lauren.
