BMW Malaysia introduces the BMW XM, the pioneering high-performance Sports Activity Vehicle (“SAV”) from BMW M GmbH with electrified drive. The seamless BMW M hybrid drive system and model-specific M suspension technology combine to deliver a dynamic driving experience.
Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, said: “We are beyond thrilled to introduce the first-ever BMW XM to Malaysia. This exclusive Sports Activity Vehicle is the first-ever BMW M GmbH high-performing car to feature an M hybrid drive system, thus extending the realm of e-mobility within the high-performance car segment in Malaysia. It is an electrifying reinvention of automotive ideals and the extreme performance characteristics will make every drive a luxurious experience for our Malaysian customers and supporters.”
The vehicle represents a new era: it is BMW M GmbH’s first independently-developed production model since the iconic BMW M1 in the 1970s, boasting exceptional specifications and uncompromising performance and impression. Its exceptional status is evident in its meticulous details, material quality, workmanship and exclusivity.
As standard, the vehicle features the M aerodynamics package and M high-gloss shadow line, with extended contents available for the shadow line profile. Other than that, adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistant are also included as standard.
From the front, it features a large kidney grille with hallmark M horizontal double louvres, furnished with illuminated kidney grille contours. Above it, sits two power domes as elements of the expressively sculpted bonnet. Flanking the grilles are slender, extremely defined headlights, which are split into two separate modules each for daytime running lights and low/high beam.
It also showcases a captivating silhouette with a prominent sloping roofline, exuding a strong and authoritative presence. Its sleek tapered rear and attractive side windows accentuate its dynamic profile. Adding to the overall appeal is a golden trim strip that runs parallel to the window line, further enhancing the vehicle’s side profile.
The rear is sculpted in a way that presents a particularly powerful look, due in part to its distinctively flared wheel arches. Its width is further emphasised by the slimline and sharply defined L-shaped taillights.
The vehicle is not only exquisite on the outside, but is equally stunning on the inside. Besides the interior trim finishers in carbon fibre, the cabin of the SAV is defined by the BMW curved display, comprising an information display and a high-resolution touchscreen control display. A familiar BMW driver orientation, as well as BMW M-specific displays ensure that the driver has total control of all driving functions and data at any point in time.
At its unveiling, the vehicle comes exclusively with the M hybrid technology, based on an all-new 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8.
