Must-Have School Swag - Detail

Students from St Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia (Tropicana PJ Campus) share their must-have school accessories that help keep them organised and focused on lessons and studies

Name: Amisha Kaneswaran
Year: 10
Accessory: Whiteboard
Why I need it: I use the whiteboard to help keep me organised as the school year goes on. I was inspired by the school planner, which we use for homework and notes. I have three whiteboards: one for important dates, one for formulas, and one to put my knowledge together.

Name: James Fedorowicz
Year: 8
Accessory: Apple AirPods 2nd Gen
Why I need it: I got these for my birthday, and the charging case for Christmas. If I'm nervous about a test or anything, I can just use them to play a really nice song and that helps me relax. I also listen to news podcasts such as BBC, to keep up to date with current events.

Name: Caithleen Eng
Year: 12
Accessory: Yamaha Clarinet YCL-650
Why I need it: I've been playing the clarinet for five years, and I play for the school's orchestra and chamber music group. Music helps me de-stress from my worries, and I really enjoy playing different types of music, like pop, K-pop and classical.

Name: Philippine Bonnancy
Year: 9
Accessory: Pencil Case
Why I need it: I like to be prepared with all sorts of pens, pencils and tools for every occasion, and my pencil case helps me keep them all organised. Aside from stationery, I also have things like a drawing compass and masking tape, just in case.

Name: William Pym
Year: 9
Accessory: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
Why I need it: I really love it because it naturally helps with time management, like getting to classes promptly, or making sure I don’t miss a test. It has a lot of other functions, like fitness tracking and a heart rate monitor, and I can even change the strap out to suit the occasion.

Name: Saurish Kapoor
Year: 10
Accessory: 3D Printer
Why I need it: I got it for my 15th birthday. I love designing and programming things, and my eventual goal is to build a low-cost ventilator for hospitals. The 3D printer helps out here at the prototype level as a proof of concept, producing things such as the casing for this Adreno chip to power the ventilator to enhance durability.
