Tropicana Corporation Berhad ushered in the Year of the Water Rabbit with more than RM3 million contributed to worthy causes in 2022. These contributions included sponsorships and donations to the underprivileged and those in need, such as flood victims and orphans, as well as social outreach to frontliners and sports associations.

The initiative supports the ongoing humanitarian mission of Tropicana Foundation, the Group’s charity arm, as well as its commitment to environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) principles.

According to Jared Ang, Group Executive Director of Tropicana: “The past two years saw Malaysians from all walks of life facing unprecedented challenges. Throughout this difficult period, we continued to reach out to the needy and give back to the public, in line with our role as a community builder and Tropicana Foundation’s focus on Redefining the Art of Caring. In 2022, this mission saw the Group extending support to a wide range of organisations and demographics through initiatives such as our annual Buggy of Joy charity drive, ringing in the Lunar New Year with charitable cheer,” he said

Launched in 2020, Buggy of Joy aims to collect dry goods and essentials for underprivileged homes throughout Klang Valley. Back for its third iteration in 2022, the drive channelled donated items such as rice, cooking oil, baby milk, masks, sanitiser and more to 15 homes, including Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Malaysia, Rumah Ozanam and Yayasan Chow Kit. There were also donations to the United Chinese School Teachers’ Association of Malaysia, Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation, Kedah State Treasury and Town Ports Council of Malaysia.

Tropicana’s whole-hearted approach also encompassed contributions from numerous townships, subsidiaries and partners, including Tropicana Aman, Tropicana Metropark, Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, Tropicana’s southern divisions and WOW Event Asia, which included a Christmas luncheon for underprivileged children organised by Tropicana Aman, Tropicana’s largest 863-acre township in Kota Kemuning, along with games and prizes, sing-alongs and arts & crafts workshops.

Tropicana also joined hands with WOW Event Asia to host a festive luncheon and treats for children from Ti-Ratana Welfare Society and Rumah Kasih Harmoni at Tropicana Gardens Mall. This included tickets to Golden Screen Cinemas, as well as a visit to “The World of DC Exhibition”.
