Tropicana Sustainability Statement

Tropicana Corporation Berhad's Sustainability Statement is an accurate, balanced and meaningful narrative about the Group's overall approach and concrete measures to honour our corporate responsibility from an environmental, social and governance ("ESG") perspective.

Our holistic approach to property development is in line with Tropicana's vision to be a leading player in the construction industry that builds innovative and quality products which offer the best value to our stakeholders while staying true to the Group's ESG commitments.

Sustainability Policy

The Group developed a Sustainability Policy in 2022 to manage Tropicana's ESG risks and opportunities in order to strengthen our organisational resilience and strategic decision-making. We aim to implement this policy alongside a Sustainable Development Plan.

The Sustainability Policy signals Tropicana's resolve to monitor the Group's environmental parameters, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water and waste, compliance with green building features, and maintaining a high standard of disclosure on sustainability matters, amongst others.

Our Sustainability Journey So Far

This Statement is the sixth addition to our collection of Sustainability Statements which highlights Tropicana's evolving journey of sustainability to add tangible financial value and various non-tangible benefits to our stakeholders over the years.

We are determined to uphold our reputation as a well-established, responsible property developer that delivers premium property in line with the Group's DNA and ESG commitments. Our motto is to strive to Redefine the Art of Living by constructing wholesome neighbourhoods where communities live, learn, work, play and prosper for generations to come.

Principal Guideline

Tropicana has made an effort to meet Bursa Malaysia's newest sustainability disclosure requirements Bursa Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Guide (3rd Edition) in this 2022 Sustainability Statement.

Global Reporting Initiative ("GRI") Standards 2021

This revised GRI Standards represent the most significant update since GRI transitioned from providing guidance to setting standard in 2016. It enables Tropicana to disclose information about the Group's most significant economic, environmental and social impacts, and how we manage such related risks and opportunities.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ("UNSDGs")

In response to the growing call for corporate entities to enhance their commitment towards climate action and adopt sustainable development solutions, we have identified none UNSDGs that align with our business operations and value chain. Progressively, the Group aims to further review and consider measures that would meet the targets of more UNSDGs.

Our Policies

In accordance with our Vision to become the premier property group that provides innovative and high-quality products to enhance stakeholder value, the Group maintains the utmost standards of integrity, business ethics, and professionalism. We take a firm stance on bribery and corruption, as evidenced from our corporate policies, codes and procedures listed below.

  • Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance 2021
    National Code that outlines best practices and recommendations for organizations to implement as part of their corporate governance framework.
  • Personal Data Protection
    Discloses how information is collected and retained by the Group in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 ("PDPA").
  • Policies & Procedures for Gifts and Hospitality
    This policy is to set out responsibilities and the responsibilities of those working for Tropicana in observing and upholding the Group's stance against bribery and corruption when giving and receiving gifts and hospitality; and to provide information and guidance to those working for the Group on how to recognise bribery and corruption issues when giving and receiving gifts and hospitality and the procedures for dealing with such issues.

  • Whistleblowing Policy
    Tropicana Group is committed to the highest standard of integrity, openness and accountability in the conduct of its businesses and operations. The Group aspires to conduct its affairs in an ethical, responsible and transparent manner. Recognising the abovementioned values, we have developed this Whistleblowing Policy to provide a structured reporting channel and guidance to all employees and third parties to whistle blow on genuine concerns without fear of retaliation, victimisation and/or subsequent discrimination. This policy is to be read in conjunction with Tropicana's Code of Conduct, and the Group's Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy.

  • Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy
    Tropicana Corporation and its subsidiaries is committed to conducting business ethically in compliance with all applicable anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws of the country in which the Group operates. The Group does not condone any form of bribery and corruption. This Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy serves to provide guidance on how to prevent, deal with and combat bribery and corrupt activities and issues that may arise in the course of business.

  • Staff Development & Training
    It is the Company's policy to provide employees with the relevant training to acquire the necessary knowledge, attitude, skills and right habit to complement the employee's self-development and career growth hence employees are able to perform the required job function in the company,in line with the company's business goals.
  • Sexual Harassment at Workplace
    Tropicana will not encourage nor tolerate any form of speech and conduct which may fall under the term which constitutes "Sexual Harassment" whether subtle or explicit. It is the Group's policy to preserve a professional working atmosphere of trust and respect, and its employees should have the right to work in an environment free of sexual harassment no matter what their gender.
  • Discrimination
    Tropicana Corporation portrays professionalism, equality, and respect for its employees from various backgrounds. It is to be warned that severe disciplinary action would be taken against any form of discrimination at the workplace regardless of whether direct or indirect, may it be discrimination based on gender, age, political opinion, disability, sexual, verbal and/or physical, and multiple discrimination and workplace bullying.
