Robust team in place to drive expansion and growth
TROPICANA Corporation has announced the promotion of two key members of its senior management team.
Datuk Dickson Tan has been promoted from the position of group managing director to deputy group chief executive officer, whereas Edmund Kong Woon Jun has been promoted from deputy group managing director to group managing director.
The Group has also appointed Kok Kong Chin as group managing director effective March 14.
"The promotion of Datuk Dickson and Edmund Kong to positions of greater responsibility is timely as it coincides with our strategic transformation plan for accelerated growth and unlocking of value of the Group's substantial asset base and landbank," said Tropicana Corporation founder and group executive vice chairman Tan Sri Danny Tan Chee Sing.
"I trust that with the capabilities of both Datuk Dickson Tan and Edmund Kong, together with Datuk Yau Kok Seng who joined us in January last year as group chief executive officer, as well as the new appointment of Kok Kong Chin, we will continue to drive the transformation of Tropicana into one of the premier developers in Malaysia," said Tan.
Tropicana is developing a portfolio of multi-billion Ring-git projects across three strategic locations in Malaysia - Greater Kuala Lumpur, Is-kandar Malaysia and Penang this year.
The Group achieved record new sales of RM2.2bil in the financial year ended 31 December 2013. Among the new projects planned for 2014, Tropicana is unveiling maiden launches from its two new Greater KL townships this year, namely Tropicana Heights in Kajang, and Tropicana Aman, previously known as Tropicana Canal City.
"The significant increase in the scale of our operations demands sharper management and operational focus. Tropicana's core management team will be further strengthened with these promotions and appointment. I am confident that this dynamic and highly capable team will steer the Group to greater success as we continue with our transformation journey," Tan added.
Kok Kong Chin has over 23 years of experience in the ASEAN financial services industry, particularly in the areas of investment banking, corporate banking, leveraged financing, private equity and capital markets. '
In addition, the Group also Kok Kong Chin announced that Datuk Andy Khoo Poh Chye has resigned from his position as executive director. "I would like to thank Datuk Andy Khoo for his integrity, guidance and dedication to the Group. During his tenure, he led the Group to achieve several key milestones," said Tan
