Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek emphasised that business entities should remember the importance of contributing back to society.

He said that corporations, besides expanding their businesses, must also fulfil the responsibility to contribute back to society. Such good deeds will not only help them to build their reputation but also to achieve their business goals.

He stressed that if corporations contribute to society, they are not only saving one life, but they are saving many, many lives.

During the gala dinner Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said that the 1MCA Malaysia Medical Foundation needs to raise more funds to help poor people who are in need of medical treatment. Dijaya Group CEO Tan Sri Dato’ Tan Chee Sing immediately donated RM500,000 to

the foundation and he stressed that he will continue to contribute in the future, if needed.

“I hope more corporations will follow Dijaya’s footstep to contribute back to society. I believe, in this way, this will benefit many more people who are in need, at the same time it will help the corporations to fulfil their social responsibility and also to achieve their business goals.”

Annual Charity Gala Dinner

He hopes that this charity gala dinner will be an annual event so that more funds can be raised and channelled back to society.

Dijaya Tropicana Foundation Chairman Datuk Rohana Tan Sri Mahmood said that the foundation was formed because of the encouragements and kind contributions given by their Group CEO Tan Sri Dato’ Tan Chee Sing.

Datuk Rohana also said that this foundation will not only assist non-profit organisations, it will also assist people from underprivileged backgrounds to pay for their medical expenses, including those who have lost their jobs due to medical incapability. The foundation will give out scholarships to students from poor families who excel in their studies, and at the same time it will also contribute to sports, arts, and culture.
