KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Dickson Tan Yong Loong (pic) has been promoted from group managing director to deputy group chief executive officer of Tropicana Corp Bhd.

The 32-year-old is the eldest son of the property group’s founder Tan Sri Danny Tan Chee Sing, who is the group executive vice-chairman and major shareholder with a direct stake of 27.76% and an indirect or deemed interest of 42.73%.

The group’s CEO is Datuk Yau Kok Seng, who was appointed to the board in January last year.

Dickson was promoted to group managing director in January 2013. He was made deputy managing director in October 2010. He was appointed to the board in May 2009.

Other public companies in which Dickson currently holds directorships include Tropicana Golf & Country Resort Bhd, TT Resources Bhd, Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp), Berjaya Assets Bhd (BAssets), Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd and Berjaya Land Bhd.

According to Bloomberg, BCorp owns a 2.86% stake in Tropicana, while BAssets owns 0.15%.

Dickson’s siblings Dillon Tan Yong Chin and Diana Tan Sheik Ni are also executive directors of the company.

Meanwhile, Tropicana announced last Friday two other changes in the boardroom. Edmund Kong Woon Jun, 51, has been promoted from deputy group managing director to group managing director, while Kok Kong Chin, 49, has been appointed group managing director.

Also, Datuk Andy Khoo Poh Chye, 46, resigned from his position as executive director to “pursue other avenues in his career”.

In a press statement, Tropicana said that it is developing a portfolio of multi-billion ringgit projects across Greater Kuala Lumpur, Iskandar Malaysia and Penang. New projects planned for this year include Tropicana Heights in Kajang and Tropicana Aman, previously known as Tropicana Canal City.<
